Corvette C8 Frunk & Functional Frunk Duct Kit — Carbon Fiber
The flow-through front hood design the Corvette reserves for the ZR1 — now available for your Stingray, Z06, or Grand Sport, and reversible any time you want your frunk back.
The RSC Functional Frunk & Frunk Duct Kit is the piece that turns the RSC ZR1.2 Front Hood from an aesthetic piece into a performance-enhancing tool. On its own, the ZR1.2 Hood gives you the unique ZR1-inspired look; with our frunk tub and duct, it's transformed into a functional aero component that adds real downforce to the front of your C8. Add this kit to open up the central front area of your C8 and redirect the air up and out the hood louvers for better aerodynamic efficiency — the same principle behind the flow-through hood on the factory ZR1.
The kit replaces the factory frunk tub with a 100% pre-impregnated carbon fiber tub that saves weight over the stock unit, retains the factory battery tender hookup, and adds a protective carbon cover for the tender connection. Two interchangeable panels (one on the underside of the ZR1.2 Hood and one in the frunk) then allow you to open up the pass-through or close it down. With the Front Block Off Panel installed, the frunk is sealed and works exactly as it does on a stock C8 — groceries, a helmet bag, an overnight duffel. Swap the block off panel for the RSC Frunk Duct and the frunk becomes a finished, fully enclosed air duct that routes heat exchanger air straight out the hood.
The best part is that nothing about the decision is permanent. Duct in for the track season, block off panel back in for the winter. Every piece in the kit is visible carbon fiber, so it looks as finished with the hood open as it does with the hood closed.
Why does that matter?
On a C8, the front heat exchangers sit low and forward, and the factory frunk tub sits between them and the hood like a lid. The RSC Frunk Duct ties the heat exchanger area to the hood louvers with a smooth, sealed carbon passage, so warm air is pulled up and out at speed instead of recirculating under the nose. Because the duct is a separate, removable panel rather than a permanently cut tub, you keep the option of a normal frunk — a tradeoff every other functional-hood setup on this platform forces you to make once and live with.
Configurations
One kit, two front ends. The hood is purchased separately (see Required Companion below); this kit supplies everything that goes beneath it.
- Street configuration — RSC carbon fiber frunk tub + Front Block Off Panel installed. Full frunk storage, factory battery tender access, vented ZR1.2 Hood look up top.
- Functional configuration — RSC carbon fiber frunk tub + RSC Frunk Duct installed. Sealed pass-through air path from the central heat exchanger area, through the frunk, and out the ZR1.2 Hood.
Construction & Materials
Every component in the kit — frunk tub, Front Block Off Panel, Frunk Duct, and battery tender cover — is manufactured using pre-impregnated (prepreg) visible carbon fiber saturated with aerospace-grade epoxy resin, then autoclave-cured under precise pressure and temperature for maximum strength-to-weight ratio. This is the same manufacturing process used on factory Corvette carbon fiber components and by every major exotic marque, and it produces that high-end supercar fit and finish discerning owners demand. The kit utilizes a special high-temperature resin system that resists discoloration and warping not found on lower-cost options — an important detail for parts that live directly above the heat exchangers — and is finished with a premium UV-inhibiting clear coat that resists hazing and yellowing under harsh sunlight. The flat, consistent weave pattern achieved through autoclave curing can't be matched by less expensive wet-laid products.
A note on "visible carbon": the term refers to the weave being exposed — it is not a type of carbon fiber. Many products advertised as visible carbon fiber are only a top layer of carbon over fiberglass or cheaper material. Every piece of the RSC Functional Frunk & Frunk Duct Kit is constructed entirely of prepreg carbon fiber.
Design & Engineering
The frunk tub, duct, and block off panel were developed together with the ZR1.2 Hood as one system, so the duct meets the hood's removable center panels as a continuous passage rather than an afterthought bolted into a stock tub. The tub follows the factory frunk footprint so nothing else under the nose has to move, and the battery tender hookup is retained in its original location with a matching carbon cover to protect the connection. The duct itself is shaped to move air with as little turbulence as possible through the frunk and toward the hood louvers, and its exposed weave is finished to the same standard as the hood above it — because on this car, people will open the hood to look.
Required Companion: RSC ZR1.2 Front Hood
This kit requires the RSC ZR1.2 Front Hood (RSCVET3060) and will not function with the factory hood or any other aftermarket hood. The frunk duct is designed to align with the ZR1.2 Hood's removable center panels; a hood without that opening has nowhere to send the air. Any ZR1.2 Hood finish works with this kit:
- Visible Carbon Fiber Hood + Louvers — RSCVET3060
- Ready-to-Paint Hood + Visible Carbon Louvers — RSCVET3060PCL
- Ready-to-Paint Hood + Carbon Flash Black Metallic Painted Louvers — RSCVET3060PTD
The frunk kit itself is offered in visible carbon fiber only, regardless of which hood finish you choose. Already own a ZR1.2 Hood on a Stingray, Z06, Z07, or Grand Sport? This kit fits it as-is. E-Ray owners, please note: the ZR1.2 Hood fits your car, but this frunk kit does not (see Fitment below).
Fitment
Designed for rear-wheel-drive Corvette C8 models, both Coupe and Convertible (HTC) body styles, when paired with the RSC ZR1.2 Front Hood:
- 2020–2027 Corvette C8 Stingray (all trims, with or without Z51)
- 2023–2027 Corvette C8 Z06 (all trims, with or without Z07)
- 2027+ Corvette C8 Grand Sport (RWD only — not the Grand Sport X)
Note: This kit DOES NOT FIT any all-wheel-drive C8 — the E-Ray, ZR1X, or Grand Sport X — and does not fit the ZR1, which uses a different air intake under the hood. The ZR1.2 Hood does fit the E-Ray, but the frunk tub, block off panel, and duct in this kit do not. AWD fitment is not currently available.
Installation
The RSC frunk tub replaces the factory tub in the factory location. The Front Block Off Panel and Frunk Duct are interchangeable panels that install into the RSC tub.

Why Choose the RSC Functional Frunk & Frunk Duct Kit
There is no factory flow-through hood option for the Stingray, Z06, or Grand Sport — that architecture belongs to the ZR1 alone. The RSC Functional Frunk & Frunk Duct Kit brings it to the rest of the C8 lineup as an original RSC design, built entirely from prepreg carbon fiber, engineered as one system with the ZR1.2 Hood, and reversible enough that you never have to choose between a functional front end and a usable frunk.
