If you've been following RSC, you may have seen this hood under a different name. We've renamed it from "ZR2" to "ZR1.2" to eliminate any confusion with the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 truck platform. This is a Corvette part, and the name should leave zero doubt about that. Same hood, same engineering, same obsessive attention to surface quality — just a clearer identity.

The product itself hasn't changed, and neither has the intent behind it: give C8 owners a carbon fiber hood with real design authority, functional heat extraction capability, and a level of surface quality that matches the car it sits on.

Design That Stands on Its Own

The ZR1.2 isn't a replica. It's a clean-sheet RSC design, sculpted by one of the finest OEM digital surface modelers in the industry — the kind of talent typically reserved for Big Three manufacturers. Every crease, radius, and transition was developed to complement the C8's existing design language, not fight against it.

The defining element is RSC's original louver profile — a completely unique pattern that sets the ZR1.2 apart from every other aftermarket hood available. It reads as intentional from every angle, aggressive without crossing the line into cartoonish. The kind of detail that makes people walk up to your car at a meet and ask who made it.

Down the center, the hood features a split weave design joined at the centerline — a construction detail typically found on exotic marques. It's a subtle visual cue that signals build quality to anyone who knows what they're looking at.

Materials and Construction

The ZR1.2 is manufactured using pre-impregnated (prepreg) visible carbon fiber saturated with aerospace-grade epoxy resin. Each hood is autoclave-cured under precise pressure and temperature to achieve the maximum strength-to-weight ratio possible — the same manufacturing process used on factory Corvette carbon fiber components.

The result is a flat, consistent 2x2 twill weave pattern with zero voids or dry spots. This finish cannot be replicated by wet-laid products, regardless of price. A premium UV-resistant clear coat protects the exposed weave from hazing and yellowing, even under years of direct sunlight.

Weight savings are real: the ZR1.2 drops 2 lbs compared to the factory hood. That weight comes off the highest point at the front of the car — exactly where it has the most impact on center of gravity.

Modular Functionality

What separates the ZR1.2 from a purely cosmetic hood swap is the modular panel system. Removable center panels open to reveal a fully functional heat extraction path, compatible with RSC's optional carbon fiber trunk replacement and air duct system for enhanced thermal management and improved downforce.

Keep the panels in place for a clean, sealed look — you still get full use of the front trunk for everyday driving, car meets, or the ice cream run. Building a dedicated track car? Pull the panels, add the air duct, and get maximum thermal efficiency. The ZR1.2 adapts to your build goals, not the other way around.

The ZR1.2 fits across the C8 Corvette lineup in both Coupe and Convertible (HTC) body styles:

Note: The ZR1.2 is not compatible with the C8 ZR1.
